Roll out the shade cloth across your structure and loosely pull it into position.

Attach shade cloth to one of the longest sides first the edge closest to your house. Just attach the hook to the turnbuckle and then slide it into place over the corner of the shade. Then go to each corner in turn and join the sun shade to the turnbuckle. Some of the cheaper brands of sail shades don t have these and simply attach directly to the hook.

The corners of the shade should have grommets or steel rings in place. They don t require you to build a permanent structure on the deck. For one corner it s sometimes better to use a tension strap. Start with a pergola arbor or another structure you wish to cover with the shade cloth.

You simply need to place the screwdriver in the middle of the turnbuckle so that the entire piece rotates. Leave at least 8 12 inches of overhang on all sides. Use snap hooks or carbines to attach it to the corners of the sail. Attach vertical screens to the extended awning to block the sun when its low in the sky.
